Barbers and others in 90%
I was going through a bag of Quarters today and found quite a few Barbers and a Seated Liberty. Not being into Numismatics at all, I have no idea if these are worth a few cents more or not.
Most are pretty worn and one has "SPF" Stamped into the face... I also found quite a few Barber 1/2s in another bag. If they are worth a little more, I may try and turn them for more Junk. http://www.survivalmonkey.com/melbo9/barbers.JPG http://www.survivalmonkey.com/melbo9/spf.JPG |

I guess it is protected from the sun radiation

Re: Barbers and others in 90%
SPF of 1895 is pretty high.
I'm guessing but I would think worn 90% is worn 90%. |
Re: Barbers and others in 90%
Those look pretty thin. If you can see a few letters in the headband LIBERTY on the Barber's then it should be worth pulling. If the 1896 in the center is an "S" then a dealer would give you a few bucks in trade.
If the Seated Liberty has a date then it is worth pulling. My guess is that someone would use it as a filler for their collection. How old are the bags? If the bags are older than 5 years then it might be worth pulling out a catalog. 65GT350 |

SPF-- Silver Pounces Fiat
I'd say you'd find buyers on EBAY who'd pay more for older dated 90% that is worn just because they don't know any better. I can't speak for the suckers on EBAY, but I pay spot for my 90%, regardless of date. Some might say the less worn, the better. |
Re: Barbers and others in 90%
Of course, you could say I stay away from perceived numismatic value because I don't know any better.

Re: Barbers and others in 90%
THanks. I try to pay a little less than spot in most cases. I just always wonder if some of my 90 has a diamond or two in it. I stay away from numismatics as well
Maybe the SPF was sold pending funds |
